Morning Mummy!

"Morning Mummy!" is a breakfast treat great for Halloween, or a film wrap party (get it?), or just your average dreary Tuesday. I got a bread mix from IKEA, sectioned the dough out into small flat ovals, slit the sides, added a generous amount of Nutella, wrapped each one up, and baked. I added frosting eyes once their personalities became clear and their bodies cooled down (and before the decomposition could begin).

Thanks so much for your interest, everyone! I've updated my blog with a specific guide to making Morning Mummies. Please click HERE, and enjoy!

Mr. Furly in "A Case of Mistaken Identity"

Furl went down to San Francisco a week ago for Gay Pride Weekend (yes, he is) and got picked off the street by the 5-O! Charged with armed robbery, the cops say they have enough evidence to put him away for life. At Alcatraz Prison (closed only to human inmates, we found out), Furl now awaits trial. He used his only phone call to contact me, of course. I'm going there to visit and strategize with him this weekend. If anyone knows anything or can provide legal counsel, please leave a comment. We're all very worried.

High Tea: Strawberry Cheesecake

"High Tea" is like high art, but different. It's a collection of handsewn calico foods I'm making for no good reason. I like food made of fabric. I also like making real food in the shape of other things. And I also really like seeing things out of scale - like giant cupcakes, or a big pencil. That's the best. Anyway, this is a slice of cheesecake drizzled with strawberry topping, with a graham cracker crust. If you're interested.

...When I'm Angry.

My day job is on an animated movie. This is merely an excuse for movie tie-in baking that my coworkers seem to enjoy. I haven't seen the film, but got inspired when I discovered my giant 7-11 fountain soda, for a limited time, was being called "Big Hulk". These cupcakes are spicy pumpkin flavored. The complexion is cream cheese, and the face is jelly beans and licorice. Just like mine.

"Maggie and Mildred": Animated Cross-Stitch

My latest film is called "Maggie and Mildred". It's a 3 minute long animation about 2 best friends, made in counted cross-stitch and animated digitally. Completed in January 2008, "Maggie and Mildred" has played at the Brooklyn International Film Festival's "KidsFilmFest" (where it received Honorable Mention) and will appear at the San Antonio Film Festival, and the Rhode Island International Film Festival in coming weeks. This is the cover of the film's DVD and a sample of the film itself! If you'd like a DVD copy, just send me an email with your name and address. If you'd like to see it on the big screen, I'll be keeping this blog up-to-date on when and where you can (hopefully) see "Maggie and Mildred" at upcoming film festivals worldwide.

Meet Mr. Furly

This is Mr. Furly. He is a beaver (NOT a bear - he hates that) who's lived with me for the past 25 years. I say he lives with me, but he more so uses my various apartments as his home-base. Lately it's come to my knowledge that when I am at work Mr. Furly is up to things, and it's not always good. Sometimes I don't see him for weeks! I agreed to assist Furl in documenting these occassions. Sometimes I meet him in locations, sometimes he sends me postcards or photographs he's taken himself. Let's just say we're making this information public "in case something should happen". This is Mr. Furly. He says hello.
