Lemon Lime Hoody...

...for a little "sprite" due any day!

Made from this pattern book, with yarn of the same name. I knew making the hoody would be pretty easy for me, so I challenged myself by knitting both sleeves at the same time, and sewing the pieces together on my new (old) sewing machine. It worked a treat, and I'm in love with my machine! I promise to show you soon.

Kimono Baby Slippers

I made these a week ago from a free pattern I found here. I had the wool felt and dotty fabric left over from this project, and they came together in less than an hour to coordinate with this sweater for Samuel.

The new parents couldn't believe the coordinated gifts, and exclaimed "Thank god, something that's not BLUE!" Note to self: stay away from pink and blue.

Me and My Chevy

Want to see a picture of me and Chevy Chase circa 1998? Here you go:

Chevy is giving a canned ham to a lady in the audience of the David Letterman Show. I wasn't lucky enough to get the ham, but as you can see I'm thoroughly enjoying my 5 seconds on TV in the 90s.

It's Meg!

Meg comes to sit with you in the garden...

She performs a puppet show for you...

...and walks home for dinner.

Meg is a worry doll, made while I've been stressed about my belongings. It's been 4 months now, and there's no sign of the boxes we shipped from Portland. My stand mixer, sewing machine, banana seat bike, craft book collection, where are you?!

Meg was made to take fretting like this away. Like all worry dolls, she goes under your pillow and disappears by the morning, taking worries with her. To help her fly away with my stresses, I'm putting her in my shop. Maybe by the time my belongings arrive, Meg will find a new home.

Nesting

Individually wrapped Easter nests went to work with Mr. Jones today. I had never heard of these before I got my new book. I found a very similar online recipe here. I love them!

Frosty Rabbits for Springtime

I realize almost all of my recent baking has been cut-out cookies. I'll explain later. Anyway, I couldn't resist this bunny cutter, and used my first British baking book, enlisting my new kitchen scale to measure all my ingredients in grams!

Does anyone know how I can make my frosting hard enough to be able to transport the cookies? I thought these were hard, but when I picked the first one out of the bakery box, 10 others came with it. Is it just a matter of less water in the recipe?

Newborns Love Greeting Cards

When I was in Portland, I went to the "Biggest Yard Sale in the World" (of course I did). It was mostly junk (of course it was), but among one lady's "treasures" I found a small plastic bag of greeting cards, mostly birth announcements, from years past. I think I paid a dollar for the bag, and I just love them. Now that our friends are having lots of babies, I thought I'd show them to you, as I announce each birth!

Samuel James McEwen was born on Sunday, March 29th. I'm going to meet him this weekend!

I wonder where Mary Ann is these days. She'll be 55 in a few months. Happy Birthday Mary Ann, and welcome to the world, Samuel!
