On a weekend afternoon, we went to the Portland Audubon Society, thinking we might see some birds in cages that might delight the girls. Instead, we touched taxidermy and meandered on close hiking trails perfect for curious kiddos. Sometimes when it rains every single day (and it did on this day, too, just after we got in the car to leave), it's hard to remember to get outside. There's so much to see, and Penny got so much energy by a simple change in surroundings, if only a few minutes up the road from our house.
More nature trails are definitely in our family's future.
