Snow Days

We've had a big snowfall here in Portland. We almost never have snow! And certainly not an accumulation like this. The whole city has been shut down, and Penny has experienced snow on the ground for the very first time.

At first, she wasn't so sure about it.

But once Mama slipped and fell, she started to see its merit :/.

On Saturday, we made our way to the park, along with so many people on skis and snowboards (stocking cap optional). Children and parents were sledding down the big hill. It was all so idyllic.

The kids had made snow people all over the park.

All Penny wanted was her swing ("Mama, my WEEEEE"), and luckily it wasn't occupied. We trudged over to the swing set.

While Lulu slept...

Penny had the time of her life, swinging above the heavy snow, pushed on by both of her parents.

She tasted the fresh snow, of course...

and then told us she was cold. It was time to go to the coffee shop for a hot drink and a cookie.

Cold hands!

And Lulu slept through the whole thing...

Now we are stuck inside for the fourth day in a row, and feeling pretty stir crazy. In good news, we have made great progress in potty training. Go, Penny, go! I guess being trapped in the house is good for something ;).
