"Duncan", A Film by Holly Klein

It seems IFC.com are having problems streaming their films online. So in response to your emails, I thought I'd post my film "Duncan", in full, here on the blog. Duncan is the story of a boy who likes to knit, who uses his passion to a most advantageous end.

I made "Duncan" almost 9 years ago now. The film is narrated by Alexander Walling (soon off to college!) with music by Lenny Azzarello. I'm giving it an unofficial "PG" rating. Comments welcome!

"Duncan", & Yours Truly

Rooftop Fims, a great group of Brooklyn folks, has shown my film "Duncan" more than anyone. Now they're streaming all 2 min. 40 sec. of it on the blog they have at IFC.com. Go here to watch the film, and be warned: I'm giving "Duncan", the story of a boy who likes to knit, a rating of PG (oh yes, I can hear the gasps).

Rooftop and IFC have also been nice enough to interview me about the film, animation, and life in general. The Q & A is below the film. Let me know what you think!

Heart Day Roundup

You can't have a heart day without chocolate hearts. With no mixer, and lots of conversions from cups to grams and fahrenheit to celsius, I had my work "cut out" for me (hardy har).

Divine Providence reigned and the cookies (or shall we say biscuits?) were delicious. I sent them to work with Mr. Jones since I have no J-O-B. Speaking of Mr. Jones, he received the complementary valentines mittens on the right. My pair is on the left.

He claims they will be making fun of him at work for such "hearty" mittens, but I disregard, and command him to do similarly (hearty har).

Globetrotters at Home

Penny and Calvin call themselves "Globetrotters". Each morning they take care of their enclosure, all the while pretending they're in a far-off land. (press play!)

Today, they're pretending to be Africa Elephants. Penny waters the flowers, imagining it's her snout that sprays the water. Calvin doesn't know how elephants bathe. He uses it as another excuse to jump in muddy puddles. They both say "Good Morning!".

Regarding Films, On Which I've Worked

Have you seen the commercials? Today "Coraline" is released in theaters! I was 2nd Assistant Editor on this film, and I'm really proud of it. I don't think you'll regret going to see it, especially in 3D. Bonus points for whooping when you see my name in the end credits. I'm going to see it tomorrow with, among others, the real Maggie and Mildred.

Speaking of, my film "Maggie and Mildred" has gotten into some pretty exciting festivals as of late:
Berlin International Film Festival, Feb. 5-15 2009, Germany
Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children, April 19-24, Canada
WorldKids International Film Festival, March 2009, Mumbai, India

I'm relocating to London this weekend, but Furl has insisted he travel separately. See you there!
